British-American influencer Andrew Tate sparked outrage among Indian fans following a racist remark he made on social media about Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh.
Controversy arose after Tate commented on a video of Dosanjh gifting his jacket to a fan at his ongoing concert. The heartwarming moment, shared widely on social media, shows the singer handing over his black jacket to his team, who then handed it over an emotional fan. The gesture seemed to have left the woman in tears while her husband leaned in to celebrate and thank Dosanjh for the gesture.
The video was posted with a comment dissing the man in the video saying, “Men used to go to war.. now they’re shedding tears of joy because their wife got someone else’s used jacket.”
Tate, notorious for his inflammatory remarks, commented on the clip with a racial slur, writing, “Bet it stinks of curry,” in reference to Dosanjh’s jacket. This remark has since drawn intense backlash from Indian fans and social media users who condemned the comment as disrespectful and racist. Anoter wrote, “Which is worst? A pedo or currified jacket?”
Another said, “It’s really sad to see how racism against indians on insta and other social media outlets has been normalized lately.”
Another claimed that the remark was a publicity stunt, saying, “He just wants attention and rn Diljeet is hitting it out of the park when it comes to popularity.”
This incident follows Tate’s recent online dispute with Indian-American doctor Kirti Patel. The clash began after Tate shared a shirtless photo with the caption, “I don’t sleep with vaccinated women.” Dr. Patel responded by criticizing his physique, calling out “gym bros” with “ripped abs.” Tate escalated the exchange by making a series of derogatory comments about Dr. Patel’s appearance.
Tate’s latest comment has only added to the backlash he faces online, with many calling for action against his racially charged and inflammatory statements.
Last month, Andrew Tate was accused of rape by two British women amidst ongoing investigations into charges related to sex with minors. The Tate brothers were already facing serious charges that could lead to over ten years in prison if convicted.
Despite the numerous allegations against him, Tate consistently denied any wrongdoing. A Romanian court early this month ruled that Tate should get back luxury cars that were seized by prosecutors pending a second criminal investigation into accusations of human trafficking.
