KL Rahul calls wife Athiya Shetty his ‘safe space’ and ‘escape’: ‘She loves me and cares for me regardless of my performance on the field’



KL Rahul and Athiya Shetty‘s love story is one that captured the hearts of fans across the country. The cricketer and the Bollywood actress first met through mutual friends, and what started as a friendship soon blossomed into a deep and meaningful relationship.
In a recent chat on Nikhil Kamath’s podcast, KL Rahul shared some heartfelt insights about his relationship with his wife, actor Athiya Shetty.Rahul described Athiya as his “safe space” and “escape,” expressing how much she means to him.
Rahul mentioned that having someone to come home to, who loves and cares for him unconditionally, no matter his performance on the field, is something he deeply values. He said, “She is my safe space, she is my escape, she is a lot of things to me. She keeps me grounded. I am very lucky and grateful.”

In a previous conversation with Star Sports, Rahul had also talked about how Athiya helps him grow. He shared, “She gives me a lot of love and peace. And if I am in a balanced state of mind, I perform my best. That is what she does for me. I can be a little laid back sometimes. She challenges me. She helps me push boundaries a bit.”
The couple made their relationship official with a dreamy wedding on January 23, 2023, in a close-knit ceremony at Athiya’s father, actor Suniel Shetty‘s Khandala farmhouse. The wedding was an intimate affair, attended by close family and friends. Their wedding pictures, shared on social media, went viral, with fans and well-wishers showering them with love and blessings.

On the work front, Athiya was last seen in the 2019 film Motichoor Chaknachoor alongside Nawazuddin Siddiqui. It’s uncertain if she’ll return to acting, as it’s been five years since her last project.
