Paratha, commonly consumed in India, has innumerable variations. Mostly stuffed with mashed vegetables, boiled potatoes, finely grated paneer or even with non vegetarian food like minced chicken, egg and mutton, paratha is a staple diet in many households in India. Indians have experimented a lot with paratha.
But, a video that is going viral on social media has shook everyone.In the video, we see the shopkeeper frying (literally deep frying) the paratha with diesel! Yes, you read that right, it is DIESEL!.
“Isko khakar kachori ka taste aata hai (This tastes like kachori),” the person behind the camera has said. This unconventional method of preparing paratha has garnered massive attention over social media and netizens have tagged FSSAI, the food regulator of the country, out of concern.

The video captioned: “True recipe for cancer (petrol diesel wala paratha) Where are we heading?” has been shared on X (formerly Twitter).
The video and the idea behind this recipe comes as a shock because only few days before ICMR-NIN has released dietary guidelines for Indians of all age groups and has urged all to consume clean and nutritious diet. In the dietary guideline, the ICMR has urged that more 56% of the non communicable diseases are due to improper diet.
“My new list of unhealthy cooking oils Diesel Petrol Seed oils,” writes one user, “He will be buying ferrari soon & his customer will be selling their house & cars soon to fund the treatment of cancer,” writes another.
“Where is food licensing and standards?” another X user has questioned.
