NEW DELHI: Carlos Alcaraz of Spain clinched his maiden French Open title by defeating Germany’s Alexander Zverev 6-3, 2-6, 5-7, 6-1, 6-2 in the final in Paris on Sunday.
With this victory, the world number three has secured his third Grand Slam title, adding to his Wimbledon triumph last year and his US Open win in 2022. Remarkably, Alcaraz maintains a flawless record in major finals.

At just 21 years old, Alcaraz also made history by becoming the seventh man and the youngest to secure Grand Slam titles on all three surfaces.
Despite conceding an early break, Alcaraz dominated the first set, closing it with a powerful forehand winner. However, as his unforced errors increased, Zverev managed to level the match.
Alcaraz regained his composure and was serving for the third set at 5-3 before a momentary lapse allowed Zverev to take control. Despite facing a thigh issue, the Spaniard swiftly navigated through the next set and elevated his performance to emerge victorious in the decisive set.
