Electronic music duo Tech Panda and Kenzani are in the thick of globe-trotting with their tunes, and yet they’ve found time to release music, dropping a wedding and club-ready song titled “Jija.” Ahead of its streaming release on Oct. 31, you can hear the song exclusively below.
The track—which follows singles like “Rebirth” and “Snake Charmer”— is centered around the playful Punjabi folk song “Jeeja Kalrha Kyun Aaya,” usually sung at weddings. Interpreted by artists ranging from Punjabi vocalist Harshdeep Kaur to pop artist Darshan Raval in recent times, Tech Panda and Kenzani give it their distinct folktronica twist. In the process, the cheery song with a sample of female vocal chorus becomes suitable for weddings as well as dancefloors.
Kenzani says in a statement, “We have grown up listening to this song, and it evokes a certain emotional response that we wanted our production to incite as well. It’s nostalgic, but very fresh and uplifting at the same time.”
Already dropping the track live during their sets, the duo are certain that the original folk song’s popularity will help propel “Jija” to wider audiences. Tech Panda says, “We had a certain level of expectation that the audience would vibe to the track, but the actual reactions were unbelievable. People started singing along as most of them knew the folk song.”
Starting with their Australia debut shows in June in Melbourne and Sydney, Tech Panda and Kenzani spent September playing at the IWA Festival in Melilla, Spain, and a club show in Stuttgart, Germany. In October, they played on a boat party in Dubai and will return to the U.A.E. on Nov. 2, 2025, playing atop Helipad by Frozen Cherry.
“Our musical identity came from shining a light on Indian electronica music, and folk music was a huge part of it, and after almost a decade, we still have the same passion for it,” the duo say.
