The title track of Saiyaara, composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Farheem Abdullah and Arslan Nizami, has become the first-ever Bollywood song to enter Spotify’s Top 50 Global chart.
The film, a YRF production directed by Mohit Suri, stars newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda and is experiencing success on both cinematic and musical fronts. Sung by indie artist Faheem Abdullah and composed by Abdullah and Arslan Nizami—two self-made musicians from Kashmir—the song’s global rise is being hailed as a breakthrough for fresh talent in Bollywood.
Its growing popularity has also turned it into a Gen Z romance anthem, proving that a track performed by a debut cast and an independent voice can capture the world’s attention.
Currently sitting at No. 5, the track has edged past global hits including Blackpink’s “Jump,” Lady Gaga’s “Die With A Smile,” Billie Eilish’s “Birds of a Feather,” and Alex Warren’s “Eternity.”
Back in India, all six songs from the soundtrack—including “Dhun” (Mithoon and Arijit Singh), “Barbaad (Reprise)” (Jubin Nautiyal and Shilpa Rao), “Tum Ho Toh” (Vishal Mishra), “Humsafar” (Sachet-Parampara) and the reprise version of “Saiyaara” (Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal)—have claimed spots in Spotify India’s Top 10.
The film’s box office performance mirrors its chart success. According to reports, Saiyaara collected ₹21 crore on its opening day and crossed the ₹100 crore mark within four days, with its music proving to be one of its strongest pillars.
Celebrations have poured in from Ahaan Panday’s family, with Alana, Ananya, Deanne, and Bhavna Panday cheering the milestone online. “#Saiyaara hits SPOTIFY global charts #7,” Alana shared on Instagram stories.
The track’s creators also thanked fans for their support. “No. 5 in the world, this is your love speaking. Thank you from the heart,” wrote Tanishk Bagchi, while Arslan Nizami encouraged fans to push the track to No. 1, calling it “a proud moment for all of us.”
While Indian rapper Hanumankind’s “Big Dawgs” previously stormed global playlists, “Saiyaara” is the first Bollywood song to break into Spotify’s Global Top 50—marking a landmark moment for Indian cinema’s music on the world stage.
