Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre has launched India’s first AI-driven software designed to detect early signs of retinal damage.
A press release from the hospital said that the tool offers fast, accurate analysis, enabling timely medical intervention and reducing the risk of vision loss. The rollout begins at the Centre’s flagship clinics in Puducherry and Thanjavur, with plans to expand across all their 50 clinics nationwide.
“AI is transforming healthcare, and this innovation will help us detect complications early and improve patient outcomes,” Dr. V. Mohan, Chairman of Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre, was quoted as saying in the release.
Highlighting the growing need for preventive care, Dr. R. M. Anjana, Managing Director, noted that early detection is key to combating diabetic retinopathy, a leading cause of vision loss among diabetics.
According to Rajalakshmi, Head of Retina Services, the new system uses retinal imaging combined with AI algorithms to identify even the most subtle signs of damage, allowing doctors to act before vision is affected.
