A growing number of Indians are choosing diagnostic centres over hospitals for preventive health screenings, according to a new report by health-tech platform ekincare. The Diagnostics vs Hospitals: Preventive Health Report 2025 reveals that 82 % of users preferred diagnostic centres citing faster report delivery and fewer service-related issues, compared to 18 % who opt for hospitals.

The study, based on data from over 30,000 users across 300 cities, highlights a shift in the way preventive care is accessed. In Mumbai, 95 % of preventive health check-ups were conducted at diagnostic labs. In Delhi-NCR, 87 % of diagnostic reports were delivered within 48 hours, compared to 38 % from hospitals. Bengaluru reported 84 % timely deliveries from diagnostics, while Hyderabad and Pune also showed higher satisfaction with lab-based services.

“People are clearly choosing speed and reliability,” said Kiran Kalakuntla, CEO and founder, ekincare.

The report analysed data from metros including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Pune, and Hyderabad, which together account for 75 % of India’s diagnostic volume.
