Truecaller, the well-known caller ID verification platform with over 250 million active users in India, has now launched a web version. Truecaller for Web marks a significant stride in enhancing communication convenience and security for the company’s vast user base, officials say.
The newly introduced web version allows users to seamlessly search for unknown numbers and access their Truecaller SMS inbox directly from their web browser. Compatible with Android devices and all web browsers across PC and Mac, this feature enables users to manage their text messages and chats conveniently from their computer screens.
Noteworthy features include receiving real-time call alert notifications for incoming calls and message alerts, instant number search, as well as showcasing SMS, IM, and business messages (by segregating as inbox, promotions, and spam messages).
Rishit Jhunjhunwala, chief product officer and managing director of India at Truecaller, expressed his excitement about the launch, emphasising the seamless integration of the application across devices. He highlighted the platform’s commitment to providing an elevated communication experience while prioritising accessibility and safety.
“Just like on the mobile app, Truecaller does not access or read any messages and the link between the app and desktop client is always encrypted. We want to stay true to our commitment to elevating the communication experience while ensuring accessibility and safety across each interaction,” he noted.
To activate Truecaller for Web, Android users can navigate to the Messages tab within the Truecaller app and select “Messaging for Web” from the overflow menu. Alternatively, users can visit the dedicated web portal at https://web.truecaller.com and follow the straightforward on-screen instructions to link their devices.
The company in its blog post also highlighted a plethora of benefits for the web version users, including the ability to type messages using a computer keyboard, manage messages effortlessly with drag-and-drop functionality, and stay connected with real-time alert notifications.
Agnes Lindberg, director of marketing at Truecaller, stated in the blog post: “We’re beyond thrilled to introduce Truecaller for Web — a slick, new addition to our lineup, exclusively for our Android family. Imagine the power of Truecaller, but now on your computer!…We’re all about making Truecaller not just a part of your phone, but a part of your daily digital life. Truecaller for Web is a giant leap in that direction. Get ready to text, manage, and stay connected like never before!”
The post further stated: “This is only the beginning. And it’s only in beta right now. We’re constantly adding more stuff from your Truecaller app to the web version. Stay tuned!”
