At the 5th Annual Global Media Forum held ahead of the World Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Awareness Week 2025, Athira Elssa Johnson of The Hindu won the first prize in the India category for her report titled “Rising antimicrobial resistance in STIs being seen in India: experts,” published on September 5, 2025.
Soujanya Padikal, a freelancer for The Hindu, received a special mention in the Asia-Pacific region category for her article “As we continue to tackle the challenges of antimicrobial resistance, time to factor in newer, emergent issues” published on May 23, 2025.
The Global AMR Media Awards, hosted by the Global AMR Media Alliance (GAMA), recognise journalists worldwide for advancing awareness on AMR. Other regional categories included Africa, Europe, and Latin America.
