Skegss’ ‘Ain’t For The Faint’ Finds Harmony and Heart in India

Australian surf-rock favourites Skegss have unveiled their latest music video, “Ain’t For The Faint,” a visual journey filmed in the sacred city of Vrindavan, India.

Directed by Ayu Das Morgan, an acclaimed filmmaker from Australia’s Northern Rivers, the video is taken from the band’s Top Heavy EP and arrives alongside the announcement of a limited edition zoetrope, now available for pre-order.

For Morgan, the project carries a personal meaning. Having travelled to India regularly since he was a child, his connection to Vrindavan — his father’s birthplace — shapes the video’s emotional core. “Skegss are such an iconic Australian band, and Vrindavan is such a big part of my identity and story,” Morgan said in a press release. “It felt far out to bring those two worlds together; my creative life in Australia and my spiritual roots in India.”

Set against the backdrop of Vrindavan’s colourful streets and ancient temples, the video captures a delicate balance between the sacred and the everyday. The filmmaker’s lens zooms in on moments of joy, devotion, and community, offering a glimpse into daily life along the Yamuna River. With pilgrims, sadhus, monkeys, and locals moving through the frame, the film celebrates simplicity and stillness as much as it does movement and sound.

At the centre of the story is 13-year-old Radharaman Sagaar, Morgan’s half-brother, whose presence brings warmth and authenticity to the project. The video follows him through his day — balancing work, health, spirituality, and family — to create a universal message about finding harmony between ambition and gratitude, the outer world and the inner one. “I met Radharaman when he was three, and he’s always been a bit of a star,” Morgan said. “I loved being able to cast him and showcase his cheeky smile.”

The collaboration came together almost serendipitously. Just before leaving for India for other film work, Morgan received a call from Skegss’ Benny Reed suggesting he shoot a video while abroad. What began as a casual idea quickly evolved into a collaborative bridge between cultures and friends. Adding to the authenticity, the video features Hindi subtitles integrated into the narrative, thereby grounding the story in its setting while inviting audiences to experience Indian culture in a more immersive way.

“Ain’t For The Faint” reflects the ethos of Skegss and their fans — free-spirited yet reflective, curious yet grounded.
