Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao led Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik and written by Niren Bhatt, has become a pro at setting new box office benchmarks! The film till Sunday morning, was the 4th biggest Hindi film ever, and by Monday morning, it has become the 2nd biggest Hindi film by collecting Rs 527 crore, beating Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 ( Rs 525.7) and Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan ( Rs 524.43). The number one spot in Hindi is held by SRK’s Jawan with Rs 583 crore.
This is not all, the sequel to 2018 superhit film Stree has also beaten Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan when it comes to the highest 4th weekend collection in Hindi. Stree 2, over the 4th weekend, minted Rs 23.75 crore as per early estimates by Sacnilk, beating Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan which collected Rs 22.29 crore . The record was previously held by Gadar 2 which had earned Rs 18.72 crore, Baahubali 2 ( Hindi) at Rs 18.30 crore, and Pathaan at Rs 9.6 crore.
With the weekend collection, Stree 2 has also become the 8th biggest film of Indian Cinema, beating Gadar 2’s collection. The next three hurdles for the film are Pathaan ( Rs 543), Animal ( Rs 553.87 crore) and Jawan ( Rs 640.25 crore). All the above mentioned films had been able to break the regional barrier, and perform exceedingly well in Tamil and Telugu markets too.
