The 25 sports pistol gold eluded the grasp of Simranpreet Kaur Brar by one point as she fought hard against qualification topper Sun Jujie (585) of China in the Shooting World Cup that concluded in Lima, Peru, on Monday.
The 20-year-old Simranpreet lost the gold 33-34 to the Chinese, even as she matched her in the last two series. The Chinese had a one-point lead after eight series of five shots, and held on to the lead over the next two series to prevail for the gold.
Manu Bhaker made the final in style, shooting the top score of 585 like the Chinese, but was pushed to fourth place by another Chinese Yao Qianxun. Esha Singh was also in the final but finished sixth.
China topped the medals table with four gold, three silver and six bronze. USA was second with four gold, two silver and a bronze, while India followed third with two gold, four silver and a bronze.
Czech Republic, Norway, Italy and Australia were the other teams to win at least one gold medal.
