Nicolas Cage and FKA Twigs star as Joseph and Mary, the parents of Jesus Christ, in the biblical horror film The Carpenter’s Son, which shared its first teaser on Wednesday.
The movie, written and directed by Lotfy Nathan, “tells the dark story of a family hiding out in Roman Egypt. The son, known only as ‘the Boy,’ is driven to doubt by another mysterious child and rebels against his guardian, the Carpenter, revealing inherent powers and a fate beyond his comprehension. As he exercises his own power, the Boy and his family become the target of horrors, natural and divine,” the film’s synopsis said.
A Quiet Place actor Noah Jupe portrays “the Boy,” or Jesus, in the horror retelling, due out in “Fall 2025 A.D.” (A specific release date has not yet been announced.)
In addition to portraying the mother Mary, FKA Twigs will also co-star in the upcoming film Mother Mary, a David Lowery-directed film starring Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel about the relationship between a singer and a fashion designer; that movie will feature music by Charli XCX and Jack Antonoff.
Twigs, who recently released her third album Eusexua with a companion album Eusexua: Afterglow on the way, has also appeared on the big screen in movies like Honey Boy and The Crow reboot.
