Punjabi singer and actor Rajvir Jawanda has died at the age of 35, succumbing to injuries sustained in a road accident in Himachal Pradesh late last month.
He had been battling for his life for nearly 11 days at a private hospital in Mohali before his death on Wednesday (Oct. 8) morning.
According to police reports, the accident occurred on Sep. 27 near Baddi in Solan district while Jawanda was riding his BMW motorcycle en route to Shimla.
Eyewitnesses said his bike lost control after colliding with stray cattle.
The impact left him with severe injuries to his head and spine. He was initially rushed to a local hospital, where he suffered a cardiac arrest, before being shifted to Fortis Hospital, Mohali, for advanced treatment.
Doctors described his condition as “extremely critical,” noting minimal brain activity and no neurological improvement despite life support interventions. In the days following the crash, rumors of his death spread widely on social media, prompting fellow Punjabi artists Amrit Maan and Kanwar Grewal to appeal for restraint and request fans to wait for official updates.
Hospital authorities confirmed that Jawanda passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Oct. 8. “Punjabi singer Rajvir Jawanda passed away at 10:55 AM on Oct. 8, 2025, at Fortis Hospital, Mohali. He was admitted on Sep. 27, 2025, in an extremely critical condition following a road accident that caused severe spinal injuries and brain damage,” Fortis Hospital said in a statement.
“Despite extensive medical support and continuous monitoring by the Critical Care and Neurosurgery teams, he succumbed to multiple organ failure this morning,” the statement added.
News of his death triggered an outpouring of grief across Punjab and beyond, with political leaders, industry colleagues, and fans paying tribute to the singer’s contribution to Punjabi music and cinema.
Born in Pona village, Ludhiana district, Rajvir Jawanda rose to fame with hits such as “Kali Jawande Di,” “Khush Reha Kar,” “Sardar,” “Do Ni Sajna” and “Kangani.” He also appeared in Punjabi films, including Subedar Joginder Singh (2018), Jind Jaan (2019), and Mindo Taseeldarni (2019).
His last Instagram post, captioned “No one will understand”, has gone viral in the wake of his death, with many fans interpreting it as a poignant farewell.
Jawanda’s sudden death has created a significant loss for the Punjabi entertainment world, where he was regarded as one of the most gifted and versatile young performers. In the days following his accident, artists including Diljit Dosanjh, Talwiinder, and Shubh had taken to social media to share messages wishing him a speedy recovery.
