Guitar ace and singer-songwriter John Mayer is making his way to India this January, slated to perform a solo set on Jan. 22, 2026 at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai.
Mayer said in a statement, “India has long been on my list of places to play, not just for the vibrancy of its culture but for the way music lives in the everyday lives of people here. To finally perform in Mumbai feels both humbling and exhilarating.”
The show, produced and promoted by BookMyShow Live, is a one-night-only performance by the Grammy-winning artist behind songs like “Bigger Than My Body,” “Slow Dancing In a Burning Room” and “Gravity.”
A breakout rock and pop artist at the start of the 2000s with his albums Room for Squares and Heavier Things, Mayer’s warm and distinct vocal and guitar approach made him an inspiration for several artists in the years to follow. Follow-up albums like Continuum and Battle Studies were richly layered in guitar composing as well as pop songwriting, spawning hits like “Waiting On The World to Change” and “Heartbreak Warfare.” The latter album included the song “Half Of My Heart,” made with pop star Taylor Swift. In the time since, Mayer has taken to everything from country and Americana to soft-rock (“New Light”), even as he’s toured with bands like Dead & Company, performing the music of psychedelic rock legends the Grateful Dead.
Mayer’s live collaborations range from blues legends like B.B. King and Eric Clapton to R&B star Alicia Keys, Ed Sheeran, and more. His January 2026 India debut makes for a packed week of live music, including Lollapalooza India 2026 in Mumbai and prog band Dream Theater’s shows in Kolkata and Bengaluru.
BookMyShow Live events chief business officer Naman Pugalia adds in his statement, “John Mayer’s debut performance in India represents a significant cultural milestone and reflects how far live music has come in this country. Mayer’s music has touched millions across the world, carried through headphones and speakers for decades, weaving its way into some of the most personal and unforgettable moments of our lives. To finally see him on stage in Mumbai transforms that private connection into a collective experience, and for us, creating these moments is what defines the future of live entertainment in India.”
