Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldiers on Tuesday rescued a groom stranded in South Kashmir’s snow-laden Tral and helped him reach his bride on time.

According to officials, the groom contacted the security forces as snow had blocked all roads and the Met Office had predicted more snowfall.

The 180 Battalion of the CRPF swung into action and reached the stranded groom in no time.

The soldiers cleared the roads and escorted the groom from Brenpathri Nagabal village to his bride’s house in the Gutroo village at South Kashmir’s Tral in their convoy.

According to a CRPF officer, the groom lived in a tribal area that was close to the mountains.

He said, “When the group called us, we contacted our bosses for permission. Upon getting a go-ahead, our team reached the spot where the groom was stranded.”

CRPF sources said, “We are committed to our duty to the locals. We must help everyone on humanitarian grounds. This shows the level of trust among locals in security forces. We respect that always.”

“They came with cars and cranes and rescued me. They removed the snow and escorted us in their cars to the wedding venue,” the groom told CNN-News 18.

“I’m thankful to them for this gesture. I wanted to enter the wedding venue in a big car. I am thrilled to have escorted in a convoy instead,”
