Ibiza has always known how to throw a party. And if you’ve spent enough nights that spill over into sunrise on the White Isle, you’ve likely stumbled upon one of its most iconic institutions: Pacha Ibiza. The club’s storied dancefloor has seen everything from fire-breathers and confetti storms to the debauchery of music legends like Mick Jagger and Grace Jones. Rumor has it, there was even a time when John Lennon and Yoko Ono impersonators drifted through the crowd on a bed.
Fast forward to 2025, and the iconic institution is taking its legacy forward with a focus on luxury, sustainability, and global appeal. It’s trying to evolve in a way that honors its free-spirited roots, but reimagines it for the seasoned traveller. And at the heart of this evolution is the newly relaunched Destino Five Ibiza, a conscious luxury retreat for both moonlight dwellers and wellness seekers, part of The Pacha Group’s hospitality portfolio.
In 2023, Dubai-based FIVE Holdings acquired The Pacha Group in a strategic push to expand its presence across the global entertainment and luxury hospitality landscape, and Destino Five is a part of that long-term vision. “Pacha Ibiza is home to the world’s oldest dancefloor and has long been a symbol of love, freedom, connection and self-expression,” Aloki Batra, CEO of The Pacha Group and FIVE Hospitality, tells Rolling Stone India. “Over the last five decades, it’s created a cultural movement rooted in music and belonging, where generations have come to feel seen, heard, and celebrated. It’s iconic, but it’s also evolving; that’s why we’re focused on amplifying its essence, not changing what it stands for.”
Designed to be a space where Ibiza’s no-rules energy crashes into luxe party culture, the freshly redesigned property sticks to its strength with Pacha ICONS, its flagship music series, which kicked off on June 19 with the likes of Marco Carola, CamelPhat, and Da Vid. The lineup also features dancefloor mainstays like Michael Bibi, Luciano, Solomun, Vintage Culture, PAWSA, and BLOND:ISH, leaning into the marathon sets and hedonism that define an Ibiza summer. “We launched Pacha ICONS in Dubai to overwhelming success, and now in Ibiza, it’s evolved into a residency for the world’s top artists,” Batra explains.
For a growing set of Indian luxury tourists and electronic music loyalists, it captures the kind of experience that’s increasingly in demand: an immersive escape that’s tuned to the rhythm of global club culture.
“These are guests who are deeply intentional,” Batra says. ”Yes, they want to party, but they also care about where their food is sourced, the design of their environment, and how their time is curated.”
Together with the Chairman and Chief Executive of FIVE Holdings, Kabir Mulchandani—who also happens to be India-born—Batra envisions The Pacha Group evolving into a global connector, linking music, people, and cultures across continents.
“What we’re doing now with The Pacha Group is building something even bigger,” he says. “A global luxury entertainment ecosystem that starts in Ibiza but connects to Dubai, Switzerland, and wherever this new generation of travellers chooses to go next.”
And it’s not just about the parties. With a complete redesign of its 159 rooms and suites, new dining concepts like Cielo and Elia, and spaces like Playa Pacha, the cherry-shaped poolside spot, the resort is now powered entirely by renewable energy. According to Batra, the relaunch also features native gardens, advanced water systems, and sourcing practices that prioritise local producers. For India’s next-gen entrepreneurs in entertainment, hospitality, or music, it could also serve as a roadmap.
“If we do it right, destinations like this become blueprints, not just for Ibiza, but for places like Goa, Kerala, or the Andamans, where hospitality and sustainability can flourish hand in hand,” he explains. “That’s the future we’re betting on, and I’d love to see more of it coming out of India.”
As Pacha ICONS unfolds over the summer, welcoming a new rotation of global artists to the open-air stage every Thursday, it’s clear that Ibiza isn’t just dancing to yesterday’s beat. It’s building a new rhythm for the future, and India, increasingly, is setting the tempo.
“India is becoming a real force in shaping the future of global hospitality and entertainment,” Batra adds. “You’ve got this incredible creative energy coming out of the country, paired with one of the world’s fastest-growing luxury and travel markets. Whether it’s music, design, cuisine, or wellness, Indian talent and taste are shaping global trends in a big way. “
