Google is likely bake new set of AI features and apps into the Pixel 9 series.

Google is expected to make changes with the Pixel 9 series later this year and also the first to come with a host of AI features/apps baked into them.

Google is expected to launch a new app promising to transform smartphone creativity along with its upcoming flagship device the Pixel 9 series. Reports this week say the upcoming series will include a new Creative Assistant app that uses AI to create personalised stickers.

This Creative Assistant app from the tech giant seems to be a strategic step to compete with their rival Apple’s Genmoji, a similar AI customisation feature that the company will come introduce in the upcoming iOS 18 update, as per a report by Android Authority,

The report suggests that the tech giant has been working on the Creative Assistant and it is tipped to be a Pixel-exclusive app. It is rumoured to have AI capabilities that might let users create personalised stickers, also it could offer the same functionality with emojis too.

The Creative Assistant app references were found in two places i.e. in the code of Google’s Tensor chip’s TPU-related binaries and in the latest version of the Google Markup app which was released in the Android 15 Beta 3 version. The app’s package name will reportedly be “com.google.android.apps. pixel.creativeassistant”.

A new ‘remix’ option would appear in the Markup app, which is expected to provide sticker production functionality with generative AI features. This sticker can then be applied to a screenshot or image.

However, an official announcement from Google regarding the new creative AI app is still awaited.

Meanwhile, Google is expected to launch three models in its upcoming flagship series – the Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro and a new Pixel 9 XL. According to other reports, all three smartphones are expected to be powered by the Tensor G4 SoC and may include AI capabilities. The Pixel 9 XL is supposed to be an entirely new handset. Additionally, the flagship device is expected to come with 16GB RAM, a “Komodo” motherboard architecture based on Arm technology and a “sched_pixel” governor.

The Pixel 9 version is expected to get a 6.24-inch display, while the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel XL are likely to have 6.24-inch and 6.73-inch screens, respectively. Also, all the models will have AMOLED displays and a 120Hz refresh rate.
