Indian-origin sitarist and composer Anoushka Shankar will be back in India to perform in January 2026 as part of a six-city tour that celebrates 30 years of live performances for the feted artist.
Shankar’s Chapters Tour of India, curated and produced by music platform SkillBox and RedFM, kicks off in Hyderabad on Jan. 30, 2026 before travelling to Bengaluru (Jan. 31), Mumbai (Feb. 1), Pune (Feb. 6), Delhi NCR (Feb. 7), and ending in Kolkata on Feb. 8, 2026.
Last touring India in early 2024, Shankar says in a statement, “Every performance in India feels deeply personal, but this tour comes at a particularly special moment. Together, we’ll mark 30 years of sharing my music on stage – three decades of growth, risk, and reinvention.”
The Chapters Tour also draws from her recent three-part project, Chapters, which took root in India. She adds, “This journey actually began in Goa three years ago with New Year’s Day journal entries mapping out a rough outline for the trilogy, and the first, experimental performances with a newly-formed band I would subsequently tour with whilst writing and releasing the Chapters.”
In 2023, Shankar released Chapter I: Forever, For Now, while 2024 saw the release of Chapter II: How Dark It Is Before Dawn, and in March this year, she released Chapter III: We Return to Light. She says, “I’ve allowed the music to evolve with each show and each continent, flowing freely from release to release. Now, all three Chapters are out, the full story is told, and it’s time to close the Chapters circle and begin another. I can’t wait for audiences in India to hear this music in full.”
In recent times, Shankar has also become a brand ambassador for Madhya Pradesh Tourism’s new campaign titled ‘It All Began Here,’ and has collaborated with virtual band Gorillaz on their upcoming album The Mountain.
