Mudassar Aziz, director of Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein, has addressed the film’s disappointing box office performance. Despite receiving positive reviews, the film struggled to surpass Rs 30 crore, continuing Akshay’s streak of underwhelming releases. In an interview with Zoom Entertainment, Aziz described the experience as bittersweet, noting the ongoing but subdued activity in the cast’s WhatsApp group. He hinted that the film’s deeper nuances may not have resonated with all viewers.

Regarding the film’s box office performance, Mudassar Aziz noted that his key takeaway is the significant influence of the 15-30 age group on ticket sales. He observed that this audience often makes decisions based on factors unrelated to the film’s enjoyment, emphasizing the importance of creating a sense of event around the release, which can overshadow the actual quality of the film.
