Ahn Hyo-seop is eyeing a lead role in this new romantic-comedy drama, Sold Out Again Today Too (production title). Ahn’s agency, The Present Company, has stated that the actor has received and is reviewing the proposal, based on media reports.
The popular Korean actor is commonly associated with K-dramas, like Still 17 (2018), Abyss (2019), Dr. Romantic 2 (2020), Lovers of the Red Sky (2021), Business Proposal (2022), Dr. Romantic 3 (2023), and A Time Called You (2023). A major plot point in all these stories is romance, cementing Ahn Hyo-seop as a romantic hero—a role he’ll play again in director Ahn Jong-yeon’s Sold Out Again Today Too.
The upcoming drama is seemingly themed around a chance encounter building an initial tension yet setting the stage for the ensuing romantic plot. The protagonists are Mathew Lee and Dam Ye-jin—two different individuals from different backgrounds—but united by sorrow, implying a vacuum, an emptiness within themselves.
Ahn has been offered to portray Mathew, an agrarian man who has a perplexing side to himself, which adds to how he is, one who I believe should be somewhat reserved and reclusive. Ye-jin, on the contrary, is a home shopping show presenter struggling with a health condition.
Mathew and Ye-jin are diligent characters who value what they do, especially their work; however, the two are broken internally, probably as a result of tragic incidents in the past. In the course of events, they cross paths that impact their lives while they get closer, fall in love, and heal each other.
Sold Out Again Today Too marks Ahn Hyo-seop’s comeback drama after the time travel mystery romance series A Time Called You—the Korean adaptation of the Taiwanese drama Someday or One Day—a love story through the intricate workings of space and time, with its protagonists entangled in multiple layers of a nuanced tale.
The actor also makes a movie debut starring in the upcoming film The Prophet: Omniscient Reader, helmed by Kim Byung-woo, centered on the hit webtoon Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint.
The Prophet follows Kim Dok-ja (Ahn), an avid reader of the web novel Three Ways to Survive an Apocalypse; in fact, he’s the only one knowing how it unfolds. One day, the apocalyptic scenario in the story’s hypothetical world suddenly turns real, with Yoo Joong-hyuk (Lee Min-ho), a superhero, entering the scene.
Joong-hyuk is initially suspicious of Dok-ja and his attempts to prevent the calamity that hangs over. Even so, the two subsequently join forces to save the day.
