The investigation into the death threats against Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has brought up an old grievance related to the actor.
A lawyer, from Chhattisgarh was summoned by the Mumbai Police after his alleged ‘robbed phone’ was used to send a death threat to the Bollywood superstar along with an extortion demand for Rs 50 lakh.
“The Bandra police station received a call threatening Shah Rukh Khan and asking for Rs 50 lakh. An offence has been registered. No arrest has been made yet,” a senior Mumbai police official said to PTI.A case was registered by the Bandra police under sections 308(4) (extortion involving threats of death or serious injury) and 351(3)(4) (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against the caller. Amidst investigations, it was revealed that the lawyer currently under the scanner, had previously raised objections to Khan’s dialogue in his 1994 film ‘Anjaam’.
The man revealed that back in the day, he had earlier complained to Mumbai police against Shah Rukh Khan over a dialogue in his movie, referring to deer hunting. “I hail from Rajasthan. The Bishnoi community (which is from Rajasthan) is my friend. It is in their religion to protect deer. So, if a Muslim says something like this about deer, it is condemnable. Therefore, I raised an objection,” he said according to PTI.
“Whoever has made a call from my phone, it seems intentional. I think it is a conspiracy against me,” he added.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the threat call was made from a phone number registered in the name of Faizan. However, when taken in for questioning, he told the cops that he had lost his phone last week and lodged a complaint at Khamardih police station.
Meanwhile, Khan’s team has reportedly made special provisions to assure his safety. The actor was recently advised against making his customary public appearance on his birthday.
