Young Thug is gearing up to release his next studio album, revealing the title, Uy Scuti, along with cover art and pre-order options — but not a release date.
Thugger confirmed the album on social media Wednesday, April 16, sharing a link to his official store with the caption, “It’s time. Red Planet.” There, fans can add a variety of Uy Scuti vinyls and CDs (plus plenty of merch) to their carts, though it’s unclear when one can expect to receive these items. The LPs and CDs come with the note that pre-orders “will begin shipping upon album release.” They also note that a track list will be announced a later date.
Young Thug has been teasing Uy Scuti — which takes its name from a red supergiant star 5,900 light years away — for about a month now. In March, he showed up at a Miami Heat game with a custom jersey emblazoned with the album’s title. Then, last week, in the lead-up to Coachella, a billboard was spotted near the festival grounds that stated: “Universe has been too quiet. Until now. Uy Scuti.”
The bottom corner of the billboard contained the lone hint at the album’s release date: “5/??/25,” suggesting the album will arrive sometime in May. (It’s possible the album’s arrival could line up with the three-year anniversary of Young Thug’s May 9, 2022 arrest on RICO charges. The rapper pleaded out of the case last fall and was sentenced to time served, 15 years of probation, and a “backloaded” consecutive sentence of 20 years if he violates his probation.)
Uy Scuti will mark Young Thug’s first new album since 2023’s Business Is Business, which was released amid the RICO case and while Young Thug was in jail. Since his release from prison, Young Thug has only released a handful of collaborations, starting with “Dum, Dumb, and Dumber,” with Lil Baby and Future. More recently, he appeared on “We Need All Da Vibes,” a track off Playboi Carti’s latest album, Music, which also features Ty Dolla $ign.
